No other fly would account for as many fish caught in the salt. Originally developed by the legend Bob Clouser as a freshwater pattern; It quickly became obvious that this simple fly basically imitates a slim baitfish in any arena perfectly. You can use it in fresh or salt, for trout, flathead, yellow-belly, salmon, tuna, trevally, bream, bass or tailor. It's just as effective on a flat as it is 50 nautical miles offshore. Basically, wherever smaller fish swim and bigger fish eat them, the Clouser will get the job done.
The guys over at Flyz inc tie their Clousers high-side to cut down on tangles, with minimal flash to perfectly represent a lateral line, resin the heads for longevity and they are wrapped onto quality Gmakatsu SL12s hooks to stick those tough-mouthed predators and hold onto them properly.
You can strip it fast over a flat, drag it across the bottom, throw it into snags, hurl it into the surf or plummet it into a roaring current; just adding H20 activates the slim buck-tail fibres which breathe in the water and scream "I am injured!
